Cassie’s story started with an awful reaction to Septra (a sulfa based antibiotic). Her reaction to Septra included nerve damage in her legs and feet, and numbness in her face and head, and worst of all she started quickly dropping weight. She also started having frequent uncontrollable coughing phlegm attacks. We watched as our healthy child went from 105 pounds when she had the reaction in May of 2012, down to 65 pounds in Dec of 2012.
The last straw was when one of Cassie’s doctors decided that she was Bulimic, and wanted us to commit her to the hospital, turning over our parental rights, so the hospital could tube feed her! We knew there had to be another way.
We heard about the Realm of Caring and after talking to them we knew that this was the move we had to make!
