CHASE

blogchasegrossCHASE
Chase is a sweet, energetic, and inquisitive child. He loves to explore and figure out how to get into wherever he is not supposed to go.
Chase’s seizures started at 8 months old. He had many head drops that we thought were due to low muscle tone. When he started sitting up, it was apparent that they were far more involved. Chase was finally diagnosed with Doose syndrome when he was 3 years old. Since then, he has failed 9 different medications and the ketogenic diet. His two current AED’s have reduced some of his seizures, however, Chase still has seizures every 10-40 seconds. Conservatively, that’s around 1000 seizures/day.
The prognosis of ongoing seizures is not great. He is currently non-verbal, and functions at the level of a 2 year old. We are excited to see what changes could occur if we can control his seizures.
